Emery Track and Field Boys Named Region 15 Champs

Manti hosted the Region 15 meet on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Emery boys were able to edge out Grand to become Region 15 Champions.

Sophomore Bryar Meccariello finished first in the 3200 meter, second in the 800 meter and fourth in the 1600 meter. Braiden Ivie continued his solid season with wins in the 100 and 200 meter races. Cale Allred won javelin and Keldan Guymon followed in second. The duo went two and three in the 300 meter hurdles, but this time Guymon finished ahead of Allred. Freshman Jace Curtis took third in the 400 meter, just ahead of teammate Keldan Guymon.

Treven Brazier just missed the podium by .32 seconds in the 110 meter hurdle to finish fourth. Mason Faimalo also took fourth in the high jump. Marquies Giroux ended in third in the discus, just ahead of fellow Spartan Anthony Taylor, who finished fourth.

The boys accumulated 157 points to win the region. Grand was awarded second place with 144 and North Sanpete ended in third with 101.

Similar success eluded the Lady Spartans as they finished in seventh.

Freshmen Tambrie Tuttle and Whitley Christensen took second and third, respectively, in the high jump. Bethany Justice ended in third in the 300 meter hurdles while McKenzie Cox finished in fourth in discus.

Emery’s team relays had good meets. The boys’ 2-2-4-8 sprint medley finished in first while the 4×400 ended in second.
