Emery Walks Away Victorious Against Grand, North Summit *Photo Gallery*

Both the Emery High girls’ and boys’ swim teams managed first-place victories at a recent home meet against Grand County and North Summit.

The Lady Spartans finished with 181 points overall, nearly 30 above second-place Grand. The team started out strong with a first-place, 2:14.44 finish in the 200-yard medley relay thanks to Alexis Johansen, Angellena Migliori, Kaelee Hooley and Katie Carter. The team composed of Sydney Terwilleger, Abigail Olsen, Shiloh Hayward and Laci Hulse took third in the same event.

BriAnne Bass and Erin Oliverson took second and third in the 200-yard free while Hooley returned to take second in the 200-yard IM. Carter also managed a first-place victory in the 50-yard free, clocking in at 28:56.

Carter took another first in the 100-yard free, coming in at 1:04.93 with teammate Hooley managing second place in the same race. Bass would continue to represent Emery, coming in third in the 500-yard free.

Johansen, Oliverson, Bass and Carter swam to a second-place victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay after which Johansen snagged third place in the 100-yard backstroke.

Migliori grabbed second in the 100-yard breaststroke while Emery’s team of Hooley, Terwilleger, Oliverson and Bass brought home third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Spartans ended the meet with 208 points, coming ahead of second-place North Summit, who finished with 177.5.

Daryl Guymon, Keldan Guymon, Garret Stilson and Nate Gilbert started the meet off right with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, clocking in at 1:47.34. Stilson would return in the 200-yard freestyle to take another first in 2:04.74 while teammate Deegan Minchey took second in the same race.

Emery’s Gage Jensen grabbed third in the 200-yard IM while Gilbert and Keldan Guymon took first and second in the 50-yard free with Gilbert finishing in 23.74.

Daryl Guymon took first for the Black and Gold in the 100-yard fly, finishing his run in 57.70 while Gilbert managed second in the 100-yard free.

Keldan Guymon took first in the 500-yard free, clocking in at 5:51.76 with Minchey managing second as well. Emery’s team of Gilbert, Stilson, Minchey and Daryl Guymon took another first for the home team in the 200-yard freestyle relay after 1:36.31.

Daryl Guymon next took third in the 100-yard backstroke with Spartan Eli Beagley bringing home third in the 100-yard breaststroke.

For the final event of the meet, Minchey, Logan Cox, Seely and Keldan Guymon took first in the 400-yard freestyle relay and a time of 3:54.00. Levi Olsen, Malone Moss, Jensen and Allen Durrant took third in the relay as well.

Emery will continue to host action, taking another turn as host school on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
