DWR to host “Cops, Bobbers and Badges” event
Price – Now that spring is here, fishing is warming up at southeastern Utah’s community fishing waters.
You’re invited to enjoy the hot fishing alongside conservation officers with the Division of Wildlife Resources and Carbon County Sheriff’s deputies. They’re hosting a Cops, Bobbers and Badges event at the Carbon County Community Fishing Pond in Price.
The free event will be held Saturday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Youth of all ages are invited to participate. The pond is in the Carbon County Fairgrounds, 450 S. Fairgrounds Road.
“We’ll have some fishing poles on hand for those that need them,” says DWR Lieutenant Ben Wolford, “but if you have your own fishing gear, be sure to bring it. Another highlight of this event is our archery range. We’ll have bows, arrows and targets for everyone to use and enjoy.”
Even though the event is free, Utah state fishing regulations still apply, so youth ages 12 and older will need a valid fishing license to participate. Licenses can be purchased online at wildlife.utah.gov, at any DWR office and at most sporting goods stores.
Young outdoor enthusiasts can also handle a collection of pelts, antlers and skulls while learning about the animals that live in Utah’s wild places. Lunch will be provided.
“We look forward to this event every year,” Wolford says. “There’s something here for everyone who enjoys being outside.”
