The Lady Eagles suffered a narrow 1-0 loss in their fourth game in five days against Iowa Central on Monday.
The lone goal of the day came from Iowa Central penalty kick in the first half.
“The ball got into the spot because we allowed it to get there,” head coach Ammon Bennett said. “We made too many mistakes and there wasn’t enough containment. We would stab the ball or step too early, which would allow them to get behind us and get some early chances.”
Despite the mistakes, the Eagles also had multiple shots on goal. Bennett explained that the team had twice as many scoring opportunities inside the 18-yard line compared to Iowa Central.
“In the end, we made too many mistakes, but they’re definitely fixable,” Bennett said. “All in all, the girls are improving a lot. We really have a fantastic team.”
The team will gear up to play Sheridan College on Thursday. The men will also take on Sheridan at 4 p.m. Play will continue for the team on Saturday in Wyoming.
