Utah Division of Wildlife Resources hosted its annual free fishing day on Saturday. During the one-day event anglers could fish any Utah waterway without a permit.
The DWR conducted a free fishing event at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Pond complete with rods, reels, bait, fishing lessons, hot dogs and drinks. By 10:30 a.m., wildlife officer Brent Stettler estimated 120 people at the event.
Anglers caught fish at the pond using a combination of baits ranging from night crawlers to salmon eggs and marshmallows to PowerBait. Similar baits were being used at the Gigliotti Pond in Helper with some success.
