The fifth annual National “Get Outdoors Day” will take place in Huntington Canyon this Saturday.

All fees usually associated with national forests will be waived on that day to try and encourage citizens to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.

Trail maps are available at any Maverick, Bk’s in Huntington, Huntington City Hall, or at various stores around the two-county area. One may also go to the Manti-La Sal National Forest website and view available maps.

“This is not really an event just an invitation for folks to come to the forest and hike, camp, fish, take photos, or whatever their favorite activity in the outdoors happens to be,” said Public Affairs Specialist Rosann Fillmore of the Manti-La Sal National Forest.

Trails repairs will also take place on that day at Corner and Second Water Canyons. Those interested can meet at the trails at 9 a.m. or at the forest service office at 599 W. Price River Drive at 8 a.m.

“Bring water, lunch, and come dressed to work,” Fillmore said.
