Press Release
In our little part of the world, we hold one of the largest one-day events in our county. July 13th we will be celebrating our annual East Carbon Community Daze. We start with breakfast in Sunnyside Park from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and then the festivities begin immediately after that, at the park, with a day full of fun for all ages.
Food vendors of all kinds, crafts and inflatables, live entertainment all day featuring local talent, and bands from around Utah. Bo Huff’s Rockabilly car show is always a must-see with beautiful custom automobiles of all kinds. To end the celebration head to the rodeo in Sunnyside Canyon where the cowboys are ready to give you a show.
Our grand marshal requirements: the nominee shall be a resident of East Carbon or had been a resident and be actively involved in the community. Nominee should be a positive person that is seen as a role model for all citizens based on their actions in the community and will have volunteered (by either serving on committees or holding a leadership position) for one or more organizations, a person that has risen above and beyond the call of duty and dedicated countless hours of service. There is no age limit for a nominee.
Carolyn Abeyta is the grand marshal, and this year is the first time choosing an Honorary Citizen award which is Bill and Francis Harris. The Honorary Citizen Award is given to someone who meets this criteria. An award is given in recognition of an individual’s achievements or service to the community. An official recognition of persons who have served the community meritoriously in any walk of life, often in a volunteer capacity and without recognition.
Honorary Citizen Award nominees must be a current or former resident of East Carbon City whose exceptional contribution to the community or personal achievement has benefited the City of East Carbon.
