Green River Romps in Double-Header Sweep Over Manila

Justin Johnson threw an abbreviated no-hitter striking out 13 of 16 batters in game one of a two-game sweep over Manila on Friday in Green River.

Johnson also led the offense with two doubles. Hunter Jones contributed with a double of his own.

Spencer Marshall got the win by hurling a three-hitter in game and hitting a double. Johnson also recorded a double in the second game.

Colton Davis’ lead off walk in the bottom of the fourth inning sparked a six-run outburst that ultimately put a tie game out of reach.

The Pirates won their fifth straight game, running their season record to 7-3.

Green River continues region play at 2 p.m. Friday with a double header at Tintic.
