Bureau of Land Management Press Release

Volunteers from Carbon County Recreation, Sheri Griffith Outfitting and Fort Lewis College gathered on Saturday to celebrate National Public Lands Day. The day started at 9 a.m. at Swaseys Boat Ramp along the Green River.

Volunteers gathered to clean the Green River Daily river corridor from Nefertiti Recreation Area to Swasey Boat Ramp. This stretch of the Green River is popular for daily boaters and is the last day of the Desolation and Gray Canyons river trip. The float is eight river miles and typically takes boaters half a day.

The volunteers scoured the river and banks and removed all garbage within the corridor. The group was encouraged by the lack of garbage. This stretch of river is kept clean by the private boaters, commercial guides and BLM river rangers.

The BLM would like to thank volunteers from Fort Lewis College, Carbon County Recreation and Sheri Griffith Outfitters for volunteering their time and boats to help keep this beautiful stretch of river clean for all users.
