Green River Stays in Region Chase, Beats Pinnacle

The rivalry game between Green River and Pinnacle took place on Tuesday night. The Pirates jumped off to an early lead, doubling up the Panthers in the first quarter, 20-10. Pinnacle battled back in the second quarter to cut the deficit to seven at half, 35-28. It was all Pirates in the second half as they went on to win 73-43.

Ben Scott led the Panthers with 14 rebounds, nine rebounds and three steals. The Pirates held Pinnacle to under 30% shooting on the night.

With the win, Green River keeps its Region 19 Title hopes alive. The Pirates are currently tied for second with Wayne (5-2) in Region 19. They are one game behind first place Monticello (5-0) in the standings but are two games back from the Buckaroos in the loss column. Green River (9-8, 5-2 Region 19) will host Monument Valley (3-10, 1-3 Region 19) on Friday to wrap up the week.

Pinnacle (3-14, 0-4 Region 19) will continue on the road on Thursday to play Whitehorse (3-13, 0-5 Region 19) as each team seeks its first region win. Then, the Panthers will host Monument Valley (3-10, 1-3 Region 19) on Saturday.
