Community members gathered at the Price Peace Gardens for a groundbreaking of the Miners Memorial on Tuesday. The memorial will be dedicated Sept. 7.
The memorial will honor miners who have died in mining accidents in the local area. Over 1,400 names will cover the wall of the memorial. The expected cost of the project is $250,000.
A fundraiser dinner for the memorial will take place on May 14 at the Carbon County Event Center. The dinner will feature a social hour, live auction and several keynote speakers. For more information, call Dennis Ardohain at (435) 636-7007.
