Utah Senator Becomes the Most Senior Republican in the Senate
U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) was sworn in today to a seventh term serving the people of Utah in the United States Senate, in the process becoming the most senior Republican in the United States Senate.
“Serving Utahns in the United States Senate is a tremendous honor that comes with great responsibility, and I’ve always worked hard to represent our state to the best of my ability,” Hatch said. “Our country faces many challenges, but we have a host of opportunities as well, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure we leave our country in a better place for future generations of Americans.”
Hatch will again serve as the Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction over Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and all revenue matters. Hatch, will also again serve as a senior member on the Judiciary Committee, of which he is a former Chairman. Additionally, he was again named to the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) and Aging Committees.
