Press Release

Sadly, 11 children across the nation have died this summer after being left in hot cars.

Now that warmer weather is here, health officials with Safe Kids Utah and Southeast Utah Health Department want to remind parents that temperatures inside of a car can rise to deadly temperatures in a very short period of time. These tragedies are happening far too often – heartbreaking, but totally preventable.

REMEMBER: On an 80° day, the temperature inside of a car rises 20° in less than 10 minutes and keeps getting hotter with each passing minute. If a child’s internal temperature reaches 104°, major organs begin to shut down. When the child’s temperature reaches 107°, the child can die.

Please keep our children safe. For more info, contact Debbie, Kathy or Shelli Jo at (435) 637-3671.
