Helper announced the awarding bid to Terry Larson Excavating during a special meeting on Thursday afternoon.
After opening bids ranging from $3,500,000-5,000,000В for phase four of the water, sewer, and storm drain project, the council awarded the bid for $3,525,000. Chad Brown, who is in charge of organizing the project, stated that the bid was “a little over predicted cost.”В However, Brown believes that costs can be trimmed in other areas of the project.
Other areas of the project continue to move forward. Starting April 15, the council hopes to have Connie Construction begin its work in south Helper.
A motion was also carried to buy two semi trucks full of dirt for the Helper baseball field.
