The resignation of Carbon County Recorder Laurie Tryon left the necessity for the position to be filled. With that necessity, the Democratic Central Committee met on Wednesday evening in order to appoint Tryon’s successor.
Local democratic party head Ed Chavez stated that all those that were interested were given the same opportunity. There were two individuals that applied for the position, though one ended up pulling out. The lone applicant, Karla Medley, has worked at the recorder’s office for over 18 years.
Having no opponents as well as her experience in the field led to Medley being appointed as the country recorder. She will fill the role for the remaining two years of the office term.
“She is very well qualified for the position,” Chavez stated.
