Helper- Karolyn Jean Mortensen, died on October 31, 2019, on her favorite holiday.
She finished her long hard battle with cancer.
Karolyn was born on February 3, 1966 to Lars Sylvester and Joyce Derbyshire in Price, Utah.
She was the youngest of seven, sister, Skeri K., brothers, David Lars (Paula), Lewis Stanley, James Fredrick (Marlyn), Donald Lee (Cindy), Richard Kevin (Joann).
Karolyn began working right after high school and was always a hard worker, she was able to succeed at every task she did. This gave her the opportunity to have multiple jobs that gave her great experiences. Not just thru work, but she was able to meet and make friends with a large number of people. With those friendships she was able to pass on her kindness and generosity. She always went out of her way to make everyone around her feel special and happy. There was little she wouldn’t do for others. She helped raise and watch several of her family and friend’s children. She became a wonderful aunt to every child she met. If a friend was sad, she would cheer them up anyway they needed.
She had such a big heart that she had to share with everyone. One of her favorite things was crocheting and she was very good at it. Many people were given some of the things she made with no payment received, she crocheted hats and donated them to the people in need. She was an inspiration of love and kindness to everyone. She has been an amazing aunt, sister and friend and although she is gone, everyone’s lives are better for having her in their lives. Her love will be with them always.
Survived by her sister, brothers, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and all of her wonderful friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lars and Joyce; brother, James (Marlyn); nephew, Chad; nieces, Hadie Marie, Brittany Joy; nephew, Jordan Michael and great nephew Baily Levi; and her lifelong best friend, David Shankerman-Cambra.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome to share memories at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
