PRICE – Utah State University Eastern Athletics has named Kirk Haney as head baseball coach for the 2019-20 school year.
“Kirk is a very capable person to take on this role and succeed. He possesses the knowledge and leadership to coach at this level. With his background in baseball, he has a created network of contacts and relationships to be successful in recruiting,” said USU Eastern Director of Athletics Scott Madsen.
Haney has been an assistant baseball coach at USU Eastern for the past two seasons, working specifically with the pitching staff.
“I am excited to get this opportunity to coach at my alma mater and help young student-athletes become better athletes and achieve their academic goals off the field,” said Haney. “I am very excited for the upcoming season to start and for the returning players to get back and the new recruits coming,”
Coach Haney will begin his new position on Aug. 1.
Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Haney was a pitcher for the Eagles from 2015-17. Haney has also worked locally with the Carbon County Recreation Department as a program coordinator.
Haney holds an Associate’s Degree from USU Eastern and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Utah State. The Payson, Utah native is married to his wife Jeridi and has one child.
