Utah Foster Care annually hosts a foster parent appreciation event to show its gratitude to all of the foster parents in the area. Each year, a foster mother is recognized for the outstanding care provided to the children in her home.
This year, the event was hosted at the Emery County Aquatic Center. Over 100 people attended the event to honor nominee Krikit Butcher as Foster Mother of the Year.
Butcher and her husband, Bill, have been foster parents for the past 11 years, and in those years, Butcher has been known to provide amazing care to some very special needs children. Others that know Butcher state that she is a patient and kind person.
Butcher has spent her time as a foster parent caring for children without regard for herself and nurturing them without expecting anything in return. She is always willing to do anything necessary to help the children she cares for, Kobi Prettyman from the Utah Foster Care organization shared.
Caseworkers are always comforted when children go into Butcher’s care, knowing that they will be well taken care of. She is an easy foster parent to work with and always does her best to make the caseworkers’ jobs easier.
“Krikit is one of the most patient, kind and caring people I know; she has shown such love and care for children with very special needs that few people would be willing to take into their home,” stated Prettyman. “She is an example of dedication and generosity.”
