The Carbon High Lady Dinos embarrassed Payson with a 40-point victory in the Region 12 opener at Payson on Tuesday.
Miranda Averett led 10 Carbon scorers with 15 points. Regan Powell and Rachel Scoggins added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Carbon led 30-8 at the half and shutout Payson with a 15-0 run in throughout the third quarter.
Carbon’s defense didn’t allow Payson to score double-digits until the fourth quarter. Payson’s highest scorer recorded three points.
Carbon improved to 8-3 on the season and 1-0 in region play. The Lady Dinos next host Spanish Fork at 5:15 Thursday in a game that will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10.
