The Richfield Wildcats snapped the Carbon Lady Dinos’ four-game winning streak Tuesday night, winning the Region 12 contest 61-44 in Richfield.
The Wildcats jumped out to a quick lead in the game and led 19-10 after one quarter of play. The Dinos tried to play catch-up for the rest of the game, playing nearly even in the final three quarters.
Carbon played without starting center McKenna Sorenson who tweaked a knee in practice earlier in the week.
Both teams combined for 43 free throw attempts. The Lady Dinos hit 12 of 18 (66%), while the Wildcats connected on 19-25 (76%).
Lindsey Blanc and Kelsey Sorenson combined for 20 (10 apiece) of the Lady Dinos’ 44 total points. Cyene Bigelow was next with seven. Blanc was in double figures for the ninth-straight game. She has scored 10 or more in 14 of her team’s 15 games on the season.
Carbon (12-3, 2-1, #2 in 3A) will host Juab (11-3, 2-0 Region 12, #4 in 3A) on Thursday in what should be a hotly contested battle between two of Region 12’s elite teams. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
