The Lady Dinos soccer team traveled to take on South Summit on Tuesday in a preseason matchup where the team narrowly lost a mark in the win column, falling 3-2.
South Summit got off to a quick lead, scoring on Sydney Ho within the first two minutes of place. Carbon responded with a revenge point by Dino Elley Cowdell to even the score.
At halftime, the Lady Dinos trailed by two after another goal by the hosting team. Carbon would score again in the second half as Grace Broadbear found the back of the net, but it was not enough as the team fell 3-2. Sydney Ho would go to save seven more goals from going in.
“I think we should have won,” shared coaches Amber Smith and Cynthia Lancaster. “We have the potential to win games. We just need to work on couple of things.”
Next up, the junior varsity players gave it their all, but with a last minute hand ball, a penalty kick was awarded to South Summit and the game ended in a tie, 2-2. Both of Carbon’s goal came from Allison Olson in the matchup while Kelsey Manual and Kelsey Sorensen combined for 27 saves.
Looking to secure their first preseason win the Lady Dinos, will travel to Grand for a matchup on Thursday.
