For the first year ever, Carbon High boasts a complete girls’ wrestling team. While the inaugural season began a month behind schedule, the Lady Dinos have been eager to learn and get to work.

“After starting the season a month behind schedule, these girls were eager to learn fast,” said volunteer coach Jamill Tapia. “After only four weeks of practice, these Lady Dinos showed up ready to battle for the Battle of Artemis at Salem Hills.”

The Battle of Artemis took place on Saturday, just two days after the team hosted its first Blue and White match. Carbon made a name for itself on Saturday as seven Lady Dinos placed in the top six.

Avery Kifer had the top finish for Carbon as she earned second place. Bailey Christensen took third while Fortune Ward, Chloe Parker and Madison Arroyo all took fourth. Emma Parker finished in fifth and Cody Shaw took sixth.

“We’re excited to watch how much these girls learn and grow from now until state,” Tapia said.

The Dinos has a quick turnaround as they will travel to Herriman on Tuesday for the Providence Hall Brawl.
