North Sanpete hosted Carbon, Gunnison and Wasatch Academy on Tuesday. Carbon came out of the gates strong with wins in both the boys’ and girls’ 200 medley relays. Kacee Barrett, Tyrca Jaramillo, Sofia Crompton and Ashlin Baker made up the girls’ gold relay while Gabe Ibanez, Zac Mortensen, Matthew Torres and Boyd Bradford did so for the boys’.
Those four Lady Dinos did not stop there. Jaramillo returned on top in the 100 breast and 200 IM while Crompton did the same in the 100 fly. Barrett also finished first in the 100 free as did Baker in the 500 free. In a sudden twist, Anna Tabone, Kaiya Manzanares, Alyssa Ellis and Emma Allred stunned their teammates and beat the aforementioned relay by 12 tenths of a second in the 200 free. Tabone, Manzanares, Ellis and Allred chopped off 25.49 seconds to accomplish the feat.
The Lady Dinos tallied 110 points compared to 67 from North Sanpete and 30 from Gunnison to take the meet.
Ibanez was the lone Dino to grab an individual gold. He did so on two occasions, the 200 and 500 free. Carbon’s boys’ team took third overall with 50 points behind North Sanpete (73) and Gunnison (71).
The Dinos will now have a couple weeks before their next competition. That meet is slated for Dec. 3 at Emery and will be streamed live on etvnews.com/livesports.
