Green River found success on the road as the Lady Pirates traveled to Price to take on Pinnacle on Friday. The Pirates took the conference matchup 55-38.
Pinnacle shooting woes started early as the team scored only two points in the first quarter while Green River put up 13. The Lady Panthers managed only single digit scoring in the second quarter as well, going into the break trailing 25-11.
The Lady Pirates never let up as they maintained their lead through the second half, notching 13 points in the third and 17 in the fourth, taking the conference win.
Senior Maribel Escalante led the Green River squad with 21 points, including three connections from downtown. Teammate Daniela Mendez also scored in double figures, recording 10.
Pinnacle’s efforts were led by senior Alexus Salazar as she put up 18 points. Nikki Borba added nine for her team.
The Lady Panthers will look for redemption this Friday as the team travel to Whitehorse for a 5:30 p.m. tip. Green River will have a short break before returning to the court as it hosts Monticello on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m.
