A win in the second round of the 3A Volleyball Championships on Wednesday morning fueled Emery in the quarterfinals. The #1 Lady Spartans were matched against #8 Delta on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite the lower seed, the Lady Rabbits fought hard in the opening set. The teams traded points, but it was Delta that came out on top, 25-23, to take the early lead. Emery responded in the second set with a 25-19 victory to even things up at 1-1.
The Lady Spartans used that momentum to gain another hard-fought victory in the third, 25-23. Delta was no match for Emery in the fourth as the Black and Gold shut the door with a decisive 25-14 victory to win the game 3-1.
With the win, Emery advances to the semifinals on Thursday. The Lady Spartans will face the winner of the #4 Canyon View/#5 Manti matchup at 11 a.m. at Utah Valley University. Stream the game online by clicking here.
