After a weekend road trip, the Lady Spartans were back in the Spartan Center on Tuesday night to take on the Delta Rabbits. These two teams met in the state tournament last year, where Delta gave Emery a scare before the Spartans prevailed late.

Last night’s game was obviously not a playoff, but Emery was looking forward to putting together a better showing. Likewise, the visiting Rabbits were hoping to prove they can hang with the one of 3A’s top teams.

It was a bit of a slow start for Emery as the Spartans only mustered seven points in the first quarter. As a result, Delta held a two-point lead, but Emery quickly heated up after the opening period. The Spartans outscored the Rabbits 28-13 through the second and third quarters, displaying their dominance. In the end, Emery took care of business by a score of 46-34.

Tambrie Tuttle had herself a game with team-highs of 16 points, five steals and four rebounds. Fellow senior Tylee Norton has also stepped up in the last week. She finished with 12 points and three steals in the contest while Addie Lester tallied another three steals.

Defensively, the Spartans were sound. To go along with their 15 steals, the Lady Spartans also recorded eight blocks as a team. Tatum Tanner led that category with three.

Coming up this week, the Spartans (8-2) will host North Summit (2-3) on Thursday. Catch all the action live on ETV Channel 10 and online at etvnews.com/livesports.
