Leading 64-10 heading into the fourth quarter, the Emery Lady Spartans cruised to the easy, 72-23 win over the Gunnison Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night, earning their second Region 15 victory of the season.
Emery used a 30-point first quarter, its largest first quarter of the season, to take the 30-6 lead after one. The Lady Spartan defense clamped down even tighter as it gave up zero points in the second, leading to the 39-6 halftime lead.
Sophomore Megan Jensen led Emery with 17 points on 7-11 shooting. Lainee Jensen hit two of five threes for 12 points. She also had a team high five assists. Kacelyn Toomer was the other Spartan in double figures with 10 points on 5-8 from the floor.
Emery (11-1, 2-0 Region 15, #2 in 2A) will host North Sevier (9-5, 2-0 Region 15, #4 in 2A) on Thursday in a battle between the two best teams in Region 15. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
