The Emery High Lady Spartan basketball team lost a heartbreaker Tuesday at North Sanpete by the score of 67-66.
Emery battled through a hard-fought game that saw North Sanpete attempt 41 free throws to the Spartans 28 attempts. Free throw shooting proved to be the difference as North Sanpete hit 56-percent versus Emery’s 50-percent.
Jeridi Price led the Lady Spartans with 18 points. Blayr Jeffs and Ashlynn Allred added 15 and 13 points, respectively. Taylor Gordon of North Sanpete led all scorers with 20 points on the strength of three three-point baskets.
Emery dropped its eighth contest in a row after winning the season opener.
Perhaps more importantly, the Lady Spartans posted a season-high 66 points in the loss. The ability to put that many points on the board could make Emery a dangerous competitor in Region 15.
Emery next hosts South Sevier Friday at 7 p.m.
