It only took three innings for the Emery Lady Spartans to dispatch the Altamont Longhorns Wednesday afternoon, 15-0.
Freshman Bailey Huggard threw just 42 pitches in the game while striking out three. She also went 2-2 at the plate. Three other players went 3-3 in the batter’s box, with Jessica Mason, Kelsey Reeve and Shaylee Jewkes each contributing a double and two singles. Reeve and Jewkes each had three RBIs in the game as well. Emery tallied 15 total hits in the game.
With just two offensive innings, the Lady Spartans scored five in the first and 10 in the second to invoke the mercy rule. Emery leads all of 2A (4th overall in the state) in runs scored with 114.
Emery (5-5, 0-1 2A East) will next play in Richfield at a tournament beginning on April 2.
