After a slow first quarter, the Emery Lady Spartans stepped on the accelerator in the final three to speed away from the Grand Lady Red Devils Tuesday night in both teams’ Region 15 opener.
After losing the first quarter 13-12, Emery outscored Grand 69-23 the rest of the way, including a 47-12 spurt over the second and third quarters. The Lady Spartans won the game 81-36.
Camrey Johnson and Lainee Jensen each put in three threes. Morgan Hurdsman and Kinlee Toomer pitched in two more apiece. The Lady Spartans nailed a season-high 15 treys.
Johnson led Emery with 15 points, her highest output in nine games. No other player scored more than nine (Jensen). Twelve players notched at least four points in the game.
Emery (6-5, 1-0 Region 15) will host North Sevier (10-2, 1-0 Region 15, #3 in 2A) on Thursday at 7 p.m. The game can be viewed live on ETV Channel 10.
