The Emery High Lady Spartans overcame a slow start to earn a non-region victory Tuesday night against cross-town rival Carbon, 40-24.
The Lady Dinos (1-1, 0-0 Region 12) jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead, but the Lady Spartans (2-0, 0-0 Region 15) finished the game outscoring Carbon 40-15.
Shelby Allred and Jeridi Price each scored 13 to pace the Spartans. Allred nailed two three pointers while Price scored nearly all of her points from the free-throw line.
Next up for Emery is a home contest against 3A Union Thursday, while Carbon will travel to take on 4A Clearfield on Friday.
Both teams will meet again December 18, in Price.
