Emery needed one more win to clinch the Region 15 Title going into its game in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday night against North Sanpete.
The Lady Spartans made quick work of the Hawks, gaining a 29-7 advantage by halftime. Emery did not allow a field goal in the second quarter as the Lady Hawks only managed one point from a free throw attempt. Emery continued their beating on North Sanpete in the final half to get the 64-31 victory. With the win, the Lady Spartans remained undefeated and became region champs.
Kacelyn Toomer has been on a tear as of late and again led the team with 17 points and two blocks. Megan Jensen and Kinlee Toomer followed with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Emery moved the ball well and recorded 11 assists to go along with 11 steals on the night.
Emery (19-0, 10-0 Region 15) will host senior night on Tuesday at 6 p.m., when the Grand Red Devils (7-10, 2-6 Region 15) come to town. Expect to see the seniors receive a lot of playing time in their last home game of their high school careers. The Spartans will then travel to San Juan (12-7, 6-3 Region 15) to play in the Corral where they will look to complete their perfect regular season. Both games can be found online while the former game will also be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10.
