The Young Women from the Westwood LDS Ward recently constructed 94 food kits for kids in Carbon County as part of the Carbon Caring for Kids volunteer efforts.
As part of its monthly luncheon, the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce took time on Thursday afternoon to honor a charity that has been conducting exceptional work in the local area: Carbon Caring for Kids.
Carbon Caring for Kids is a non-profit organization that helps provide meals for children in the area to eat while they are not in school. The organization is solely a volunteer effort that aims to make sure that no child’s stomach is empty in Carbon County.
Randi Lyn Leonard, a founding volunteer in the organization, took time to speak at the luncheon and further explain Carbon Caring for Kids’ goals as well as upcoming events.
On Saturday, April 22, a doubles horseshoe fundraiser tournament will be hosted at Washington Park. Registration begins at 12 p.m. with the tournament kicking off at 1 p.m. The public can take part in the tournament for just $20 per person, with 50% of the proceeds going to Carbon Caring for Kids. The remaining 50% will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers.
Then, the following week, Carbon Caring for Kids in conjunction with Carbon County Recreation will be hosting a co-ed softball tournament on April 29. More information on the tournament can be found by calling Carbon County Recreation at 435-636-3702.
