At the last Price City Council meeting, Samantha Tatton was one of the privileged few to earn a scholarship from the city. A recent Carbon High graduate of 2013, Tatton wishes to attend USU Eastern and major in radiology. At the meeting on July 23, she explained that by staying in Price to further her education and by one day hopefully working at Castleview Hospital as a radiologist, she will help to improve the community. Tatton hopes she can bring excellent radiology care to the area for long time to come.

For the past few years, students living within the boundaries of Price are eligible for a scholarship to Utah State University Eastern. The scholarships vary in amount and are available year-round on a first-come-first-served basis. To apply for a scholarship, a student simply needs to submit a two page essay to Price City explaining past, current and future plans for community service within Price city, current courses of study and career goals, and how that future career will improve Price City as a community. After including contact information, submissions may be mailed to Community Director Nick Tatton at P.O. Box 893 Price, UT 84501. After a student’s submission is accepted, they will appear before the council to further explain why they deserve the scholarship. The council will then decide on a one-time payout for the scholarship.
