Helper City Police Department Press Release
On Saturday around 8:30 a.m., officer Chris Gigliotti of the Helper City Police Department was alerted to a vehicle that had been reported as driving recklessly down Price Canyon. Officer Gigliotti attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, a Dodge truck towing a trailer with a Jeep on top, which soon fled headed eastbound on SR 6.
Multiple agencies, including the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, Price City Police Department, Wellington City Police Department and the Utah Highway Patrol, assisted in trying to stop the driver. The suspect vehicle turned into Price City and eventually came to a stop at a dead end street in the area of 300 South and 400 West. The driver fled from the vehicle at this point. He was eventually captured by responding officers, and it was soon discovered that the vehicle and trailer were reported stolen out of the Salt Lake Valley area. These vehicles also contained over $20,000 in stolen construction equipment.
The suspect, Tyson Brent Anderson, a 36-year-old from the Salt Lake Valley area, was arrested on numerous charges including Fleeing, Failing to Stop at Police Command, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, and Reckless Driving. Anderson was booked into the Carbon County Correctional Facility and has a lengthy criminal record.
The Helper City Police Department is currently working with several police agencies in the Salt Lake Valley area to return all of the stolen items.
