With just a few more races left in a Carbon Dino uniform, Garrett Marsing is making the most of it.
Marsing broke his own school record in the 1600 meters Wednesday at the Region 12 Championships at Juab High School. According to head coach Jimmy Jewkes, Marsing posted a 4:21.20. What made it even more impressive is that he did it in the pouring rain.
“He was running by himself,” Jewkes said.
Marsing broke his own record that he set when he posted a then school record 4:22.11 at the Pine View Invitational March 28. The mark also ranks as the fastest 3A time so far this year.
In other news, Jewkes reported that freshman Sarah Ohlwiler won a Region 12 title in the long jump. Official results will be available tomorrow.
Marsing will participate in the 4×400 and 800 meters on Thursday.
