Last year, an inaugural Christmas day dinner took place at USU Eastern. The Community Christmas Caring Dinner served free meals to the homeless, low income community members, veterans and other members of the community with the help of volunteers from USU Eastern and the Carbon County Food Bank. Planning for this year’s feast will begin soon.
According to Brenda Deeter from the Carbon County Food Bank, a meeting will take place on July 29 to continue plans for this year’s event. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the old Reeves School building. Deeter said that anyone wishing to donate items, time or money to this year’s dinner is welcome to attend the meeting. Also, anyone with ideas to make the dinner a success is welcome.
Deeter said that one topic of discussion at the meeting will be a possible shuttle to escort members of the community to the dinner. Other plans for the event will also be discussed.
