The Emery Spartans traveled to American Leadership Academy (ALA) on Friday to play the Eagles. Emery controlled the majority of the contest and would have run away with it if it weren’t for two pick-sixes that keep the Eagles in the game.
Even with the early miscues, the Spartans went into the final quarter leading 20-12. ALA converted on a 4th and 10 from just beyond the Spartans’ 10 yard-line with a touchdown. ALA converted the two points attempt to tie the game. The Eagles scored again with a field goal in the late minutes to snatch the victory away from the Spartans, 23-20.
Emery gave up 12 points off the interceptions and the defense, which was tough all night, gave up 11 points in the last quarter to drop the game.
The Spartans will be on the road on Sep. 6th to play Juan Diego.
