It was another up and down week for the Pirates, who were on the road for both contests. On Wednesday, they played Bryce Valley in a high-scoring affair.
Green River scored five runs in the third to take a 5-1 lead. The Mustangs responded with two back-to-back five-run innings. Down 11-5, the Pirates erupted with nine runs in the fifth to regain the lead. Green River pushed six more runs across the next inning and took the 20-16 victory.
Weston Hatfield-Knight had a monster game for the Pirates, going 4-5 with seven RBIs, four runs scored and three doubles. Axel Anguiano also had a solid performance and went 3-4 with four RBIs and a walk. Green River only managed to score in three innings but put up 20 runs on the board.
On Friday, the Pirates faced Panguitch. The Bobcats scored five runs through the first two innings and effectively put the game away. They went on to defeat Green River 9-4. Preston Marshall went 3-4 with two stolen bases and a double to lead the Pirates.
Green River (5-12, 4-8 South Region) will remain on the road to play Piute (12-7, 8-5 South Region) for its last game of the regular season on Wednesday.
