The Prehistoric Museum opened “Snakes, Sheep and Shaman,” an exhibit featuring photographer Francois Gohier and painter Joe Venus, on Thursday.

Both artists displayed a collection of their work and explained the ideas and inspiration behind many of their pieces.

Speaking about a piece capturing Fremont Indian symbols, Venus said, “We really don’t have an exact idea of what these symbols mean, but I once talked to an Egyptologist who studies symbols like these and he said they were almost the same as some of the symbols on the pyramids in Egypt.”

Approximately 50 visitors attended the exhibit’s grand opening. The work will be exhibited for the foreseeable future.
