Race Nielsen pitched a complete-game four hitter and went 2-4 at the plate to lead the Emery Spartans to the 8-0 win against the South Sevier Rams on Wednesday in Monroe.
The Spartans did their damage in the third and fifth innings, in which they scored seven of their eight total runs. They also had 11 hits in the game.
Five players had two hits in the game, with Tel Gardner going 2-2 with a double and a single and an RBI. He also walked twice. Easton Gordon, Zach Jorgensen, Koda Alton and Nielsen also had two hits in the game.
Nielsen struck out four batters to go along with three walks. He tallied just 80 pitches in the complete-game gem.
Emery (8-3, 0-1 2A East) will host Grand (10-1, 3-0 2A East) on Friday. The Red Devils beat the Spartans 6-5 on a walk-off hit on Tuesday to hand Emery its first region loss.
