Early birds across Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and everywhere in between were suprised by a bright burst of light in the sky. Most sightings were reported by 6:30a.m., but some came as early as 5:30a.m. В What was it?

Some believed it to be the sun, some said it was extraterrestrial activity, but we now have confirmation that the burst of light was caused from a US Army missile launch near Gallup, New Mexico.

Allison Ware of Emery County, described her sighting of the odd light, while traveling near the town of Emery, Utah.

“We were driving east on the Moore cut off road around 6:15 a.m. to hunt antelope when we saw what appeared to be an oddly shaped cloud which was vertical in the sky glowing from the sun and it looked like something above it was moving quickly and making the trail, then it veered to the left and disappeared. We watched it through binoculars. It was very interesting.”

Cammie Montoya, spokeswoman for the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, said everything went according to plan. She described the light as result of the missile being intercepted by another, and the outline accentuated by the sun.
