The Pinnacle Panthers came from behind in the fourth quarter Wednesday to squeak by American Leadership Academy 44-36. Jon Giddings had a monster game, pouring in 14 points and grabbing 16 boards.
The Panthers held a seven-point lead with under two minutes to play, but ALA scored on a layup off its pressing defense and was fouled on a three-point attempt by Val Acosta after yet another steal. The ALA player hit two of the three free throws. On the missed free throw, ALA was able to secure the offensive rebound and missed a game-tying three. Pinnacle made its free throws down the stretch to secure its fourth victory of the season.
Noah Mascarenas chipped in 10 points, eight of which came in the fourth on 6-7 from the free throw line.
Pinnacle (4-2, 0-0 Region 19) will conclude its four-game road trip Friday at Tabiona (5-3, 0-0 Region 17).
