Panthers End Week on a High Note

Pinnacle traveled to Junction on Wednesday to take on the Piute Thunderbirds. The Panthers had a rough third inning and gave up six runs to trail 7-0. The Thunderbirds controlled the rest of the contest and went on to win 9-1.

Steady Mikey Vigil again led the Panthers at the plate, going 2-3 with a double and the lone RBI. The junior also pitched two and one third innings of relief, allowing no earned runs.

Pinnacle returned home for Friday’s match against the Bryce Valley Mustangs. With a tied game in the second, the Panthers struck for seven runs to take a huge lead. Pinnacle walked it off, implementing the mercy rule with three runs in the fifth for a 12-2 victory.

The Panthers out hit the Mustangs 13 to three in the contest. Vigil, Stetson Motte, Logan Kepl and Michael Schmitz each had multiple hits while Motte had a game-high four RBIs. Shayden Christensen and Christian McLean combined to give up one earned run on three hits over five innings.

Wednesday marks the last regular season game of the year for the Panthers (5-15, 1-12 South Region). They will face Valley (15-5, 9-4 South Region) in Orderville.
