The Payson Lions scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to add to their 4-0 lead to beat the Carbon Lady Dinos in both teams’ Region 12 opener on Wednesday.
The Lions held the Dinos to four total hits. Chandelle Nichols had the only extra-base hit for Carbon.
Carbon (9-2, 0-1 Region 12) will travel to Richfield (1-7, 0-2 Region 12) to take on the Wildcats on Friday.
