On Friday afternoon Bob Pero received word his appointment to the Utah State Tax Commission has been finalized.
By late afternoon he had been sworn in by Judicial Law Judge Kerry Chapman and had tendered his resignation a sCarbon County Clerk Auditor.
The County has already taken steps to appoint Pero’s replacement in anticipation of the change. Seth Oveson will step in and fill in for the final part of Pero’s current term. He will have to run for re-election in less than two years if he decides to stay in the position. Oveson previously worked for Smuin, Rich and Marsing accounting firm. He В is currently employed with Utah State on the Price Campus.
Pero reports to work first thing Tuesday morning so he will not have much time with Oveson.
“The other (Tax) Commissioner wish I had been there a month ago,” he said. “They are so backed up with cases. But I will make time to work with Seth as much as possible.”
