Pilates in Helper

Pilates are defined as a system of repetitive exercises performed on a yoga mat or other equipment to promote strength, stability and flexibility. They can help develop the body through muscular effort that stems from the core. The technique cultivates awareness to the body to support everyday movements that are efficient and graceful.

Joseph Pilates developed that form of exercise in the 1920’s and has been very popular among dancers. It can also can benefit your balance and improve your posture. Pilates targets “powerhouse” muscles which include glutes, hips, pelvic floor and lower back. It is used widely in rehabilitation, but is also very beneficial to fitness advocates and athletes as well.

Pilates classes will be offered by Erin Barker Wednesdays at 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. She will also offer classes Thursdays and Saturdays at 9 a.m. Classes will be held above Balance Rock Eatery & Pub on the third floor at 148 South Main Street in Helper. There will be extra parking in the back of the building.
