The Pinnacle boys’ and girls’ basketball teams travelled to Monticello for matchups with the Buckaroos. Both teams lost, the boys 63-48, and the girls 63-30.
After losing to the Bucks on Jan. 12 in Price 57-44, Pinnacle was looking for payback plus a possible Region 19 #1 overall seed in next month’s 1A Playoffs. A big first half by Monticello was too much for the Panthers to overcome.
Three Panthers scored in double figures in the game, led by Levi Rutherford with 15 points, including a career-high tying four threes. Noah Mascarenas hit two treys in the game en route to 13 points. Jon Giddings pitched in 11.
Pinnacle (10-5, 3-2 Region 19) will host Green River (1-12, 0-3 Region 19) on Tuesday. The Panthers clipped the Pirates 56-38 back on Jan. 8. Tuesday’s game can be viewed live on ETV Channel 6.
The Lady Panthers picked up another loss Friday as well, 63-30 the the Lady Buckaroos. Dellenie Paletta led Pinnacle with 10 points, including two three pointers. Nikki Borba contributed nine.
