Dozens gathered for a horseshoe tournament at the Carbon County Fair on Saturday. The tournament featured singles and doubles competition.
In the singles competition, Dusty Lofley remained undefeated to take the first place finish. Antonio Cordova finished in second and Zach Rodriguez rounded out the competition in third. Fifteen players in all took part in the singles tournament.
Later that day, Clinton “Chief” Badback and Dusty Lofley topped the doubles tournament. Kenny Blake and Cory Leavitt finished in second in the tournament followed by Frank and Brandon Sanderson.
“Fifteen teams participated with quite a few new faces this year,” event organizer Rochelle Badback explained about the doubles tournament. “Badback and Lofley are reigning champs and were able to hang onto their title for another year. Leavitt also placed as number two last year.”
The co-ed league is rapidly approaching for horseshoe players. The deadline for the fall league has been extended to Aug. 14 at 5 p.m. Players can register at Carbon County Recreation. For more information, please call (435) 636-3702.
