After taking a doubleheader against Uintah American Legion last week, the Price American Legion squad got a little payback when they visited Vernal on Monday. Price dropped both games by a combined score of 25-6.
Price started Harley Barker on the mound in game one, but it managed just three hits in the game behind Barker and lost the game, 13-4. Barker, Johny Tallerico and Brendan Johnson each had singles in the game.
The offensive struggles continued in game two as Price tallied just one hit in the game, a triple by Caden Sherman. Uintah upended Price 12-2 in the game. Steven Zamantakis, Jarod Lessar and Sherman all pitched in the game.
“I had guys out of town so others had a chance to play,” head coach Willie Ellington said. “We need to be more focused and need more commitment.”
Price will travel to Green River Wyo. this weekend for a wood bat tournament beginning Friday. Price will take on Rock Springs, Wyo. at 9:30 a.m. Friday and Green River, Wyo. at 1 p.m. A game against Rangely, Colo. will take place Saturday morning at 9 with another game at 1:30 p.m. against Evanston, Wyo.
Price sits at 2-2 on the young season.
